Any concerns or questions may be discussed with board-certified internist Dr. Francisco Cardona when you come for a consultation at our San Antonio, TX practice.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Skin Resurfacing?

There are multiple factors to think about when choosing which type of laser skin resurfacing treatment is best for you. Laser skin resurfacing is geared toward patients who are unsatisfied with their general complexion. If you see sun damage, acne scars, age spots, lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, or redness troubles, a laser skin resurfacing procedure can be needed to correct these cosmetic flaws. Also, it works wonders if you have rough texture, scaly patches, or other irregularities. This treatment isn't suggested if you have very dark skin tones or active acne. In addition, it's important to understand that there is a recovery period associated with these laser treatments. Some patients, depending on the condition of their skin, may need as much as 2 – 3 weeks for their skin to normalize.

There is typically little downtime required for laser skin resurfacing. How does LASER SKIN RESURFACING with ClearLift work?

Developed by Alma Lasers. an industry leader in the production of laser technology, ClearLift combines the laser energy of the non-ablative Yag with the Pixel Q Switch 1064 nm. The combination of these technologies allows the energy to reach the deeper layer of the subcutaneous tissue where collagen is produced (about 3mm deep) and enhance its production which leads to improvement in the tone and elasticity of the skin without affecting the outer layer (dermis) of the skin making it as n ideal treatment to have done during  your lunch hour as it causes no downtime, requires no anesthesia and best of all, leaves no visible external marks

Who can be treated with Clear Lift?

Although aging is one of the more common reasons for decreased collagen production and loss of skin tone, it is not the only cause. Chronic inflammatory states such as acne or recurrent sun exposure can lead to a decrease in collagen synthesis which can ultimately lead to a loss in skin tonicity. Because of this, Patients of any age could potentially benefit from treatments with a clear lift. Additionally, clear lift is one of the few therapies that has been deemed to be safe on all skin types

What Is Recovery Like Following Laser Skin Resurfacing?

After lighter resurfacing treatments, a healing ointment will be applied to the skin, and you can return home for your recovery. The treated skin will appear red, and there may be some irritation and swelling. This should subside within a couple of days, and the peeling process will occur over a 3 – 5-day period. If you are receiving a more intense resurfacing procedure, your downtime will take longer. The treated areas will most likely be protected with dressings, and the irritation, burning, and swelling sensation may be more intense. Pain medication can be prescribed to help reduce these symptoms. The downtime for a more intense laser procedure may last 2 – 3 weeks. All patients need to limit their UV exposure following their laser session and use sun protection throughout the day. For all laser treatments, the treated skin will naturally crust, flake, and peel off. It's crucial to avoid interfering with the healing process to keep from scarring and to shield your skin from UV exposure. After the peeling is finished, your skin will feel smoother while looking clearer, rejuvenated, and younger.

How many treatments will I need?

It is important to understand that the results with the Clear Lift are not seen immediately. This is mainly due to the reason that collagen production is a gradual process, with tightening and lifting seen over the course of several weeks Following initiation of therapy, as collagen builds up, improvements in the skin tonicity and texture will become more noticeable. Most patients typically require between three and six treatments, however, the number of treatments recommended will depend on how much damage is present at the time of initial evaluation. Following completion of treatment, most patients benefit from maintenance treatments every 3 to 6 months in order to maintain their results.

About Us
How much does laser skin resurfacing cost?

Your laser skin resurfacing costs vary based on the type of treatment you get. During your initial consultation, Dr. Cardona will listen to your skin issues and goals before discussing the different types of laser resurfacing available. After this, he will help you choose your resurfacing method and discuss costs. Vita Nova Anti-Aging and Rejuvenation Clinic often offers treatment specials and discounted packages, so ask for more information during your consultation.

What's the best type of resurfacing for me?

Dr. Cardona will help you decide which resurfacing treatment will best meet your needs and goals during your initial consultation. What treatment is best for you will depend on the condition of your skin, your skin problems, and the skin depth you want your treatment to reach. How long you are willing to give your recovery may also be a deciding factor when choosing your treatment type. If you are unsure, it is best to start with a milder treatment to see how you like your results and decide if you want something stronger for your next appointment.

How can I help my skin recover after a resurfacing treatment?

Dr. Cardona or a member of his team will explain how you can help your skin heal after a laser resurfacing treatment. The most important rule is do not pick or peel flaking skin. Doing this could lead to lasting damage like scars. You need to skip all hair removal methods in the treatment area, which means no shaving, waxing, or depilatory creams. We can suggest an ointment to help soothe treated areas.
